Frequently Asked Questions
How much is tuition?
Tuition is $100 a week (this is excludes the registration fee). Payment is due Monday each week and can be paid with cash or check. Weekly tuition is due regardless of the number of lessons you attend that week. Lessons intended to be paid for in full, or through a scholarship, by a 3rd party, business, or other entity must be disclosed upon first contact.
Why are lessons 5 days a week and only up to 10 minutes long?
The reason for this is multifaceted. First, repetition and consistency are crucial elements of learning for young children. Research shows that short, more frequent lessons result in higher retention; especially due to the having short attentions spans. A third reason is that, though the pool temperature is maintained at 78-88 degrees, the temperature is still lower than your child's body temperature. Lessons are hard work and can result in loss of body heat. Instructors check students regularly for temperature fatigue since this is an indicator of physical fatigue. If for any reason lessons must be cut short, the instructor will let the parent know as to why.
Do parents get to participate in the water during lessons?
ISR is a drowning prevention program, and it takes an incredible amount of concentration to properly teach a child how to respond to an aquatic emergency. ISR's research shows, along with what many parents have said, often times parents find it too difficult to be effective teachers when their own children are in the water. This is why we encourage positive verbal reinforcement from the pool deck from parents, without causing any additional distractions to the student.
But don't worry! Your child will not fear the water due to ISR lessons!
